Wednesday, ski now while there is still good snow

This is the business end of the groomer. Those funny looking teeth cut into the snow and tenderize it, turning it into skiable snow.

Nice comb on good snow. 2/15/2023
Thu14 km open for skiing, 30km open for snowshoeing. Malcolm is out grooming, he reports a really nice comb lays down in a good granular snow. We'll have nice spring skiing again today. We are also open for fat bikes, but come early before things get too soft. By noon, we'll be a little too squishy for bikes, then it's time to switch over to skis. The snow today will be variable, which is typical with spring skiing. The sun will soften snow, the shade will protect it. So you will find some fast spots, but mostly soft easy granular snow.

We had a pretty good crowd last night for our annual Valentines night party. Everyone we talked to had a great time, and the skiing was really good spring skiing the whole night. Most people were surprised at how much snow is still in the woods. There are some bare spots starting in the field, but the woods still have pretty good coverage. How long this will last is anyone's guess. It's no secret we need more snow.

Looking ahead: Thursday looks good, Friday looks really sketchy, there's rain and warm temperatures in the forecast turning to a little bit of snow. It would be nice if that little bit turned out to be a little more than that but we'll have to wait and see. Saturday morning is not looking great. It isn't going to soften up until much later in the morning. The conditions will be great for fat bikes and snowshoes in the morning, better for skiers around 11am.
