daily trail report

Wednesday 2/7/24 Another lovely sunny day

2/7/2024

Picture
Today is going to be another typical spring like day. Yesterday all the snow softened and melted, last night it all froze back up. This is typical for about half the time here in Vermont. Malcolm is out grooming this morning and as expected it is taking many passes to groom this into a skiable loose granular snow. The picture is after a few passes this morning with the teeth,  but before dropping the track mold to set tracks.
The skiing will be fast in the morning until it softens up. That won't take long though, temperatures today will be pushing above freezing by 11am.

15km open for skiing
19km open for snowshoeing (both the red and yellow snowshoe trails are open again)
Loose frozen granular, softening in the sun, fast in the shade.
New skiers will find this early day skiing challenging but you can start with snowshoes and switch to skis when the snow softens. That is always an option.
