Another pretty nice day for a ski, snowshoe or a ride on your fat bike.
16km open with loose granular snow.
Malcolm is out grooming early again, softening up the snow after a light freeze last night. The picture is a snapshot of Wolf Path in the early morning sun. All the inner trails are open all the way out to the end of Loki's Loops. Malcolm also groomed out Boynton Run to the little cabin yesterday. It's an out and back ski, but it's a really pretty ski with a nice little picnic cabin at the end.
Skate skiing will be really nice today. If you haven't tried it yet, today is a good day for that. Did you know when you rent equipment, you can switch from skis to snowshoes at any time? Snowshoes offer an opportunity to check out some of those trails you might not ski, like Thor's Run.
We'll be skiing on a loose frozen granular surface today. Current temps are pushing up to the low 30's. The high today is expected to hover around 36. This will soften things up quite a bit.
Looking ahead: Thursday's weather is not looking good. If you are waffling about which day to ski, the first three days of this week are looking pretty good.
