Maybe, most likely, probably tomorrow
Saturday 7:45 Malcolm is at the nordic center now. The snow is very sticky with temps hovering at 32 degrees. This will definitely have an effect on grooming so until we get a grooming report I'm still up in the air about what he will be able to do without damaging what we have on the ground. As soon as I know, I'll update the conditions page. We will open at 10am. Route 11 is current closed by Magic Mountain, so plan accordingly if you are coming from the east.
Friday night: We got snow, oh boy did we! We were expecting heavy wet snow, maybe 8-10". What we got was a less heavy, less wet, kind of sticky powder. Currently about 12" and counting. How nice is that!
Malcolm was able to take the groomer out and roll a good chunk of the trails system; about 15k all told. If the snow continues at this pace, and with the current moisture content, he will start more serious grooming in the morning. At this time, our plan is to open all the inner trails and out to Riverside Farm. We'll staying away from areas that are typically wet for now.
If all goes according to plan, we will open for skiing around 10am after we finish digging out. Please check back in the morning for an update. If, when Malcolm gets to the nordic center in the morning, the snow looks too wet we may have to adjust the plan. There will be no lessons, or cafe this weekend. We will have drinks and snacks though.
We expect the roads may still be a little challenging first thing, so don't rush on over. Take your time and be safe. Hopefully we'll see you tomorrow.
