daily trail report

Classic spring conditions today

3/16/2021

Picture
Open today from 9-5. 15km open and groomed for skiing 31k open for snowshoeing and fat bikes.  Malcolm is grooming all the inner trails, and the Pines Run Boynton Run loop.
Loose frozen granular snow will be fast in the morning when temperatures are cold, but will soften up as temperatures warm up. The sun will have a great effect on the snow today. Where the sun hits, snow will soften, in the shade be prepared for it to be faster.
New skiers will find these conditions challenging so should consider snowshoeing until things warm up a bit and the sun can help soften the snow. If you rent, you can switch from skis to snowshoes or the other way around with no charge. So, starting on snowshoes to check things out then changing to skis is no big deal.
If you have any questions about conditions please call the shop and ask us, we're happy to answer your questions. 802-824-3933.
