Yet another beautiful day here in our beautiful part of Vermont. We keep picking up little bits of snow overnight that just add to the fabulousness that is already out there on the trails. Malcolm is out grooming and smoothing more trails this morning. He's groomed almost all the trails now except for Helga's and Yggdrassil. The skiing is pretty fabulous with lots of packed powder and beautiful set tracks. The skate lanes have firmed up nicely for skate skiing and with the cold weather we expect this to continue so that by the weekend the trails will be firm enough to allow fat tire bikes too.
The wind in the woods is minimal at best, so wind chill is not a problem. This is a big plus over that other kind of skiing. No big winds, no long chair lift ride, you create your own heat. Being a naturally socially distant sport make cross country skiing and snowshoeing a great way to spend some time outside.
