Dec 26: Are temps in the mid-teens cold?

12/26/2025

Yes, it is cold this morning but is 15 degrees, the predicted temp at 12 noon too cold to go for a snowshoe or to get some early season skiing in?  No, not at all.  Layer up, consider mittens instead of gloves and maybe that hat that covers your ears and once you get moving you'll be really glad you got some time outside in the woods and on the trail, snowshoeing or skiing.

We'll delay opening until noon, and open the shop and Inner Trails only 12-4:30 today.  We have thin coverage on our Inner Trails but they are skiable.  We only got 2+" of snow  Wednesday so we were not able to groom or set tracks. If you plan on skiing we recommend that you bring an old set you don't mind getting a scratch or two.   We will be renting skis and snowshoes today.

Today will be a great day for snowshoeing. Come try our new Dion snowshoes and see how great snowshoeing can be when the binding really keeps you tight to the snowshoe and doesn't loosen up.  The foot/snowshoe connection in the Dion's is noticeable and amazing, a real game changer for getting out in the woods in winter.

Overnight forecasts are changing rapidly, currently a snowstorm is due to hit late tonight and continue until daybreak.  We will open as soon as we can tomorrow morning but may be a little delayed.  We want to be sure the roads are safe to travel on.  With fresh snow that has not had time to settle out classic skiing will be better than skating.

And we are planning on having night skiing tomorrow night.  With new snow, maybe even still hanging in the trees it should be a magical experience: a fire pit for making s'mores, skiing or snowshoeing on lit trails and plenty of folks having fun.  Bring your family or meet up with your friends and create some wonderful memories at our night skiing.

When you finish your trail time today come inside for a cocoa and cookie, we'll have limited cafe service but plenty of treats today and tomorrow.
