We're dipping our toe into running events at Viking with a relaxed, fun, family 5km-ish trail race.

Where:
Viking Nordic Center, 615 Little Pond Rd, Londonderry, VT
What:
A 5 km ish race over the Nordic Center's  'Inner Trails'.  A cross country running experience, dirt and grass trails, and hills.  Trails are 10-14 feet wide, relatively flat but these are trails not roads; there will be some rocks, roots, and mud.    While not a flat course this is moderate to easy over mostly green and blue cross country ski trails.  There will be a mix of hills.  The race will begin and end in Viking's field near the deck and warming hut and consist of 3 loops.  Runners will return to the field between each loop. 
Teams will run relay style with a 3 km leg, a 1.5 km leg, and 800 m leg to allow families and teams with mixed ages and abilities to participate.  The longest leg has the most hills, the shortest leg has just one and runners will go down it.  If families or teams would like to run more than 3 participants we'll space those runners out over the short loop so all can participate.
Entry Fee:
None.  Donations will be appreciated, definitely not required.  Our hope is to expose the community to running on Viking trails, leading to more running events in the future.

Prizes for the the fastest individuals and teams, age groups: whippersnapper (16 and under), open, masters (40+), and experienced (60+)
Awards for the youngest team, the team with the greatest age range, best costume, and the Viking award for the team or runner that has the most fun!
Participant reward for all runners!
